ethical dilemma

During any type of ethics training, it is quite normal to react with shock and embarrassment when one realizes that he or she may have come dangerously close to committing an ethical faux pas in the past. That is why courses such as this are so important to help students explore strategies to resolving ethical issues in a systematic, supported manner so they may anticipate ethical dilemmas as professionals and be prepared to prevent or resolve them.

Discuss what strategies or insights you could apply to an ethical dilemma.

Write a one page description of one ethical dilemma that you have encountered in the past. Explain the strategy you applied or why you did not apply a strategy. Then describe an alternate ethical strategy presented in this course that might address the dilemma that you might not have considered prior to this course. Finally, explain why this new strategy might be more effective in solving the dilemma.

Part B

Research at least two articles related to future directions and trends in ethics. Write a one page listing two future directions you believe will influence ethics in psychology and how. Then explain whether you believe each future direction is consistent with mission for The School of Psychology that graduates “exhibit the highest ethical standards of their profession.” It also promotes a student body dedicated to “improving the human experience within a global community” and facilitating “positive change with their own lives and the lives of others.” Finally, explain how these future directions might influence your research or practice in your field of educational psychology.
