Teacher Perceptions and Expectations

In Chapter 6 of the required text, Blankstein (2013) asserts that in high-achieving schools, teachers are constantly engaged in study on failure-prevention strategies and strategies for bolstering student learning and engagement. For this assignment, read the three common reasons below for why teachers may not take responsibility for the learning growth of their students:

    1. They may not believe that a school can succeed with all students.

    1. They may not feel personally competent to succeed with all students.

  1. They believe it is not worth it.

Choose one of the following topics:

    1. Discuss teacher attitudes, perceptions, or dispositions (from your text or other research) that you believe are inhibiting or slowing progress and growth within your school or organization.

  1. Discuss teacher attitudes, perceptions, or dispositions that you believe are supporting student academic growth and achievement in your school or organization.

Then, find at least two sources that provide suggestions for overcoming or supporting and sustaining these teacher perceptions, attitudes, or dispositions. Describe how the suggestions could specifically be implemented in a school or organization in order to effectively impact student growth and achievement. The paper should be two to three pages in length, excluding title and reference pages. The paper should be in APA format.
