Write an essay that addresses the potential effects of the use of a nuclear weapon by a terrorist group. Be detailed in your analysis and descriptive in your explanation of effects. Take into consideration the effects of terrain, location, geography, population density, time of day, and weather. Use the following assumptions: the weapon has a 15kt yield; it is detonated in downtown Austin, TX, on the University of Texas campus; the detonation occurs during on a Wednesday at about 11 AM, during February, in a year when the Texas Legislature is in session. There is a 5-10 mph wind from the North-West. Skies are clear. The weapon is detonated at ground level at the point specified on the photo in lesson 3. In your paper be sure to discuss the effects on structures, people, and government. Your paper should include all of your assumptions, including those specified above, and the basis for those assumptions. The final several paragraphs of your paper should address the fundamental difference in effects should the terrorists successfully access the University of Texas Tower (see photo in lesson 3) and detonate their weapon from the observation deck at the top of the tower. Your paper should be 7-10 pages in length, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt. font, with 1 inch margins. Prepare you paper using APA style. Incorporate a cover page and reference list (not counted as part of the paper length). You must use at least five (5) different references. You may NOT use Wikipedia. You may NOT use more than three (3) Internet based references. Use of appropriate graphics to demonstrate points is expected. Below is the information for the video that is being referenced too.
